The Inspection Surge & The Changing CQC Landscape
If your feed looks anything like mine right now, you’ve noticed that CQC inspection activity has completely ramped up. But while managing the current summer surge, we also have to keep our eyes on the horizon.
The CQC recently closed its consultation on 4 new draft sector-specific assessment frameworks—meaning a dedicated adult social care framework is officially on the way. The proposed shift moves away from generic quality statements and numerical scoring, bringing back structured key lines of enquiry and explicit rating characteristics.
But whether we are talking about today's inspections or tomorrow's new framework, the core challenge remains the same: real, live evidence tracking. An inspector doesn’t care about a flawless policy sitting on a shelf. They want to see how that policy is lived out on the floor. If your evidence is trapped in messy spreadsheets or paper folders, you are setting your team up for burnout.
